Nadmo Boss Visits Bono East to Assess Impact Of Sawla Conflict On Displaced Persons
The delegation was warmly received by the Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu. The purpose of the visit was to gather first-hand information on the conditions of displaced persons in the region as a result of the Sawla conflict and to assess the general situation.
Hon. Francis Owusu, the Bono East Regional Minister, confirmed that several displaced persons had migrated to various districts, including Techiman North, Techiman South, Kintampo South, Timpone, and other parts of the region. He also presented an official report to the Director-General, detailing the data gathered during the visit.
Hon. Owusu also highlighted some of the challenges faced by NADMO in the Bono East Region. These challenges included lack of vehicles for operational duties, inadequate personnel, especially in the zonal areas, and limited relief items to support the displaced persons.
In his response, Major (Rtd.) Dr. Kuyon commended the NADMO team in the region for their dedication and resilience despite the difficulties they face. He assured the Regional Minister and the NADMO staff that the issues raised would be addressed. He further emphasized NADMO’s commitment to providing the necessary resources to strengthen operations in the Bono East Region and to ensure the well-being of displaced persons.
The Director General was accompanied by the Deputy Director General for Technical, Mr. Ahmed-Rufai Aggudey and the Director of Man-Made Disasters, Mr. Maxwell Niber.
The visit reaffirmed the organisation’s resolve to enhance disaster response and management efforts across the country.
