Unibank Ghana Limited has extended a hand of support to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility in Accra. Items presented were Two Hundred packets of roofing sheets, a cheque of One Hundred Thousand Ghana cedis and a new brandedToyota pick-up vehicle.
The Managing Director of Unibank, Clifford Mettle said, the bank was touched by the plight of the students of the Prempeh College, Opoku Ware Senior High School and other schools in Bawku who are currently facing challenges following a rainstorm which caused damage to several properties. "We are looking forward to improving lives in communities by providing them with incentives", he said.
According to him, the first donation of two hundred packets of roofing sheets was to support the schools that had their roofing sheets ripped off due to the rainstorm. The second donation, One Hundred Thousand Ghana cedis was in support of the fight against the army worm infestation and the brand new vehicle was to aid NADMO in times of disasters.
In his response, Hon. Eric Agyemang Prempeh, Director General of NADMO thanked the Bank for their kind gesture and said the cash donation against the army worm infestation was timely as it would aid government in the fight against the menace. He further said it was time for the organisation to be more proactive in its response and longed to see NADMO as champions of disaster management in Africa with Unibank as a partner.
He reiterated that NADMO is faced with several challenges such as financial and logistics and urged other organizations to emulate Unibanks example.
