IOM’S Support for NADMO Crucial
Nnamdi Iwuora, a Senior Programme Manager at the International Organization for Migration (IOM), has stated that IOM is prepared to continue supporting the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) to improve its effectiveness and efficiency.
He made this assurance during a courtesy visit to NADMO's Headquarters on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
Mr. Iwuora was warmly welcomed by Hon. Albert Alalzuuga Akuka, the Deputy Director General in charge of Community Empowerment and Sustainable Livelihood. He stated that IOM is working to engage in broader discussions with NADMO. The goal is to strengthen the existing partnership between the two organizations to better serve the interests of migrants.
He mentioned that plans are in place to offer NADMO the essential technical support needed to improve its Emergency Operation Centres across the country. He highlighted that the IOM is actively developing emergency preparedness and response programs aimed at training officers and enhancing their capabilities, all to promote a more resilient society.
The Honorable Albert Akuka expressed his gratitude for the support that the IOM has provided to NADMO over the years. He assured Mr. Nnamdi Iwuora of the organization's full cooperation in all future endeavours.
He praised the initiatives of the IOM and requested the implementation of measures to ensure that migrants from other countries are effectively integrated into Ghanaian society.
Mr. David Darko, a Senior Project Officer at IOM, accompanied Mr. Iwuora during this meeting.
