US AMBASSADOR TO GHANA PAYS COURTESY CALL ON DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF NADMO

H.E Stephanie S. Sullivan, Ambassador of the United States of America to Ghana, on Friday, April 16, 2021, paid a courtesy call on the Director-General of NADMO, Hon Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh. The meeting took place at the Headquarters of the National Disaster Management Organisation in Accra.

Also part of the delegation were officers, LTC Mark Mcevers, North Dakota National Guard State Partnership Program Director for Ghana-Togo-Benin, Maj. Jarrod R. Simek, Ghana-Togo-Benin Regional Bilateral Affairs Officer, and Kevin Brown, Supervisory Program Officer.
key issues deliberated at the meeting focused on Disaster prevention, preparedness, communication, and response.

Hon Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh, in his capacity as the Director-General of NADMO, used the opportunity to highlight the Government’s commitment led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo with regards to disaster management, particularly earthquake, flood, and fire outbreaks in the country.

He expressed his appreciation to the North Dakota National Guard for their continuous support and commitment to NADMO’s operations especially in the area of simulation exercises, particularly the 2018 Earthquake full-scale and tabletop simulation exercises.

The Ambassador used the opportunity to enquire about the status of the perineal floods in the Northern Region of Ghana, and the Director-General in response enumerated the Government's initiative and construction of the Pwalugu dam project with the assurance to her that Nadmo would keep her updated with developments.

The Ambassador also promised to work closely with NADMO to find solutions to the country's disaster problems, and she urged NADMO Ghana to collaborate with neighboring countries on disaster issues.

Also present at the meeting were Madam Charlotte Nana Norman, Director- Climate Change Adaptation DRD, and Mr. Nana Asafo-Adjei, Director-International Relations and Protocol.
